CHAPTER FOUR
Lava Pits and Forgotten Sanity

My name is T.RedEye. It's actually not, but logic isn't welcome in the Magic Kingdom. Currently, I'm helping a giant anthropomorphic mouse locate his keys. He's lost six, I've located one. Tracking down this key involved answering a series of cartoon trivia questions asked by super-powered children with the ability to teleport. Some would question my sanity. Perhaps they'd be just in doing so. Perhaps I should consider this myself. For now, though, I've got a job to do.

I decide to check in with Mickey via the communicator watch he provided me.

"Hey Chief, I found a key."

...and he immediately closes the connection. "T.RedEye fight!" That's all he had to say. I swear, I don't understand that guy.

Well, I guess Autopia's as good a place as any to continue my search.

As soon as I enter, Mickey pops up on my watch.

"You're the boss, boss!"

I don't bother asking how a race is possible when Autopia cars are set back-to-back on a set track. I'm not paid to ask questions.

I'm seated in an unfamiliar red car at the tail end of the pack. I know they've been remodeling Autopia, but...this is not what I'd expected at all. This is an actual race track.

Before I'm able to scope out what's ahead of me, we're off.

It's right about when I launch off a ramp and land on an ungated bridge that I start to realize the severity of my situation. This is dangerous.

"Hey boss, are you sure this is safe? These other cars are crashing into each other and dive-bombing into the lake. I think I saw one burst into flames through my rear-view mirror."

"Okeydoke."

I seem to have lost the rest of the drivers, whoever they are. Or were, perhaps.

I do believe that's...yes, it is. I'm jumping over lava. How can this possibly be legal?

There seems to be some sort of livestock grazing at the side of the tracks, just past the lava. I'm going too fast to get a good look at them, but from what I can see they're not natural. They have the shape of a pig and the spotted coat of a common cow. No doubt one of Mickey's genetic experiments. At least they have a home.

Proto Difference #3

(Beta)

(Final)

The bridge graphics have not been finalized. Exciting stuff.

...

I have no idea what the Hell that is, but I'm avoiding it.

Eventually I win the race, though I can't say that I've seen Panhandle Pete anywhere on the track. He greets me at the finish line.

That's two. I've had my sanity tested, I've chased a dog around Disneyland, I've avoided imminent death on the most dangerous race track ever built, and I've got two goddam keys to show for it. This better be one Hell of a parade.
